Year 7 September 2021

We have 210 places available in year 7 for September 2021. If you would like to apply, please use the secondary Common Application Form that you will receive from your child’s primary school and return to your local authority.

If the school is oversubscribed, places will be allocated by applying the following admission criteria in order:

Priority 1 A 'looked after child' or a child who was previously looked after but immediately after being looked after became subject to an adoption, child arrangement, or special guardianship order.

Priority 2 Children who have demonstrated an aptitude in our specialist subject area: either rugby or netball who live within the schools PAA, will be considered for 10% of the available places and will feed into our elite rugby union and netball programmes.

Priority 3 Children, foster children or step children of a parent/guardian in current employment within the Rodillian Multi Academy Trust (RMAT) or working at a RMAT school site as their full-time place of work when the following applies: a) The member of staff has been employed for 2 years or more at time of application and / or b) The member of staff is recruited to fill a vacant post for which there is a demonstrable skill shortage.

Priority 4 Children who have an older brother or sister from the same address who will be on the roll of the Academy at the date of admission (the sibling rule).

Priority 5 Children living in the school’s Priority Admission Area (PAA) covering East Bierley, Birkenshaw, Gomersal and Birstall, who reside nearest to the school based on the straight line distance from the home address to the Academy.

Priority 6 Children living outside the priority admission area who reside nearest to the school based on the straight line distance from the home address to the Academy.

Transition

Making the move to secondary school can be a challenging time for both parents and pupils. At BBG Academy we work closely with primary schools to make sure the transition from year 6 to year 7 is a smooth and positive experience for all.

In-year Applications

 BBG Academy is a popular school, however, spaces do become available at times.

If you would like to apply, in-year application forms (for Year 7-11) are available from the school office or you can download here.

In the case that your application is not successful, you will be added to our waiting list and will be contacted if a place becomes available.

Appeals

If you would like to appeal against a decision please click here

Your appeal should be lodged by March 2021. All appeals lodged by this date will be heard by June 2021.

Admissions for September 2021

BBG have increased the Published Admission Number (PAN) for the provision at BBG Academy, from a 7 form entry of 200 students, to 7 form entry of 210 students, as from September 2021, starting with Year 7 and phasing through to Year 11.
